Dale Gatcum
DipWSET
Dale is a Wine & Spirit Education Trust Certified Educator & Assessor who has been teaching WSET courses for over 25 years.
Holder of the WSET Diploma and winner of the George O’Malley Tasting Trophy (the highest mark in the blind tasting exam that year). He lectures in several wine schools in Ireland and The Baltics, and in several Educational Institutes in the E.U. He is also the author of Grape Personalities, an easy-to-read guide that 'demystifies' grape varieties and features no-nonsense explanations of winemaking techniques.
In his constant quest for knowledge, Dale is Ireland’s first Certified Rioja Educator and Ireland’s first Certified Port Educator. He loves all wine, but he has a passion for Organic and Biodynamic wines.
In 2024, Dale was a member of the Irish team at The World Wine Tasting Championships, held at Château Dauzac in Bordeaux — the first time Ireland has competed in this prestigious competition.
When he is not lecturing, Dale works with family-owned and operated organic wineries, helping them with international exports, sales and marketing.
