What is the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines?
The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is a structured intermediate wine course that introduces students to the principal grape varieties, wine regions, and production methods that shape wines around the world.
Through guided tastings and expert instruction, students learn how climate, vineyard practices, and winemaking techniques influence the style and quality of wine.
Topics covered include:
Major grape varieties and the wines they produce
Key wine regions of Europe and the New World
Factors that influence wine style and quality
Wine production and vineyard practices
Sparkling wines, sweet wines, and fortified wines
Principles of food and wine pairing
Students also develop their tasting skills using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine®.

The WSET Level 2 course is typically delivered over nine weeks of evening sessions.

At the end of the course, students sit a 60-minute exam consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions.

Many students go on to continue their studies with the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines, which explores wine at a more advanced level.
